Hi friends and family!
A lot of people requested I blog about my time with Mercy Ships again. :) So I will try! Please don't judge me for my poor grammar. :)
So, I leave on January 18th to Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo! I'll be volunteering with Mercy Ships on the dental team again! I'm getting excited and a little nervous.. Mostly nervous because I had AMAZING roommates last time and I have no idea who I'm going to be roommates with this time... I think I'm just missing my old roomies. Wish they could be there with me again!
I've started the process of writing lists of what I need to bring with me this time. One thing that's important.. TUPPERWARE! Yay! Then I can bring lunch with me to the dental clinic this time. It's the simple things in life that make life better. :D
I'm also preparing myself for the 2 minute showers..GACK!!! When I came back it only took me 2 or 3 showers to realize I could spend longer than 2 minutes in the warmth! I adjusted very easily to that. To prepare for my 2 minute showers I'm taking LONG showers and lots of saunas. Sauna is on almost every night here at my house!
There are so many things to think about before leaving for almost 3 months..
One..My poor dog Maggie has no idea I'm leaving her again.. My wonderful parents have said they will babysit her for me again while I'm gone.
I have to clean my room, clean my car, cancel my cell phone, get malaria meds, get a haircut, and then plan carefully the clothing I'm packing. I've seen the size of the closets on the ship. They are a little small.. Hahahahaha! VERY small. I'll have to pack very efficiently again.
And of course a lot of other little small details.
Then do everything, all while working and keeping my calendar full of fun events so I can enjoy my last bit of snow here and see my friends that are in town.
For my friends that don't know about Mercy ships

I love this organization! Can't wait to be a part of it again!
Thanks to all friends and family that have supported me financially or through prayers! Please continue to pray for my safety and health(and sanity in these last busy weeks)! Thanks!!
<3 Karen
